I’m a woman who dreamed of ordinary things

I never imagined myself with a mega career or wearing power suits. I wanted a regular home, a marriage that lasted, and some regular kids. I grew up moving from house to house and watching relationships fail all around me. More than almost anything, I wanted to be the one who did it differently.

I still remember walking past a house one day. Nothing special, just a regular house with a suburban parked out front. I was struck by it anyway, by what I imagined was held inside. A husband and a wife and some kids. The knowing that this was their home and this was their family. The people were staying, and so was the house.

I wanted to build something like that.
Something that held, stable and ordinary.

Instead, I’ve been divorced. I’ve sat in the wreckage of a life I built my whole identity around and had to figure out who I was inside the rubble, with no car, no job, no money, and a child to raise.

I’ve loved a son through addiction, through “the wrong crowd,” juvenile hall, courtrooms, running away, and moments so dark I wasn’t sure either of us would survive them.

I’ve spent most of my life feeling like I don’t quite fit in most rooms I walk into. Always slightly outside the easy belonging others seem to find without trying.

The ache of feeling alone has become the reason I share. My story won’t match yours completely, but if even one piece of what I’ve lived through or am living with makes you feel a little less alone, a little more seen, that’s everything.

The other important stuff

Maverick, my Goldendoodle is the best thing I’ve ever bought myself. He’s genuinely dorky, uncoordinated and completely made to be by my side

In my car we’re either going to be belting out some 90’s R&B or rapping along to an old hip hop song

The best things in the world are out of the oven soft chocolate chip cookies, huge bowls of Cinnamon Toast Crunch and a fresh bag of crunchy Cheetos

I speak pretty fluently and often in a sarcastic tone, especially on days when I’m feeling spicy or when talking about something that really just sucks. You’ll likely see this in my writing from time to time

I’m so glad you’re here and truly hope this space does something good for your heart. Please feel free to message or connect with me anytime
